Gals Need Pals (or GNP-NP) is a non-profit organization that hosts monthly events for adult women to meet and foster meaningful connections. GNP’s purpose is to create opportunities for women to overcome loneliness and isolation by making positive choices to benefit their mental health. These events create a healthy environment for women to overcome social barriers, loneliness, and depression.
The founder, Kinley Bishop, struggled to develop social bonds when first moving to the state of Washington causing her to battle the hardships of moving to a new place without knowing anyone. While she was still teaching, she noticed how easily children formed friendships and the lack of fear they had putting themselves out there. She realized that adults develop a fear of rejection and tend to isolate themselves when they are in a new environment, just as she was doing. From there sparked the idea of Gals Need Pals, a safe space where women could meet, mingle, and create genuine friendships without the pressure and fear of rejection because everyone was there for the same reason. No name tags, no ice-breaker games, just organic and authentic relationship building.
